I Finally Feel Like I’m Creating A Life

Two words. Infinity. Mirrors. Two more words. Yayoi.Kusama. And two more words. Hirshorn. Musuem. One quote. “A girl’s gotta have a life of her own.” While figuring out how to even write this post, it came to me that it was more than just going to see probably one of Washington DC’s most talked about art exhibits of 2017. Maybe even ever [ok not that far].  First I have to talk about my realization that just two years ago I had NO life.  Boring. Unsure. Disconnected.   Everyone around me seemed to be out here doing it.  Doin’ their own thing. Living life. ‘Bout that life. Living not existing. And I was just sitting there – on the dock of the bay – unsure of what “create a life of your own” meant, or rather – how to go about doing it. That’s always my challenge. I know what to do most of the time. It’s how.  Fast forward. I started to push myself to become fearless. Whatever seemed fun and interesting, I wanted to at least …

Thirty Three

Heyyyyyyyyy!!! Guess who turned 33 this month?! Still don’t know? Really? Ok, I’ll just tell you: Me! These last couple of weeks have been kinda busy but as I promised for 2017, my blog is a priority.   So, what have I been up to? The usual LOL – eating, buying stuff because it’s cool, talking to old couples at the bar [really cool story coming up in one of my next Masterdate posts btw], tutoring, civic meetings, county budget meetings, anddddddd turning 33!!! Can I just say, this is one of those years that kinda sounds weird when I say my age, nevertheeeeless, it’s an honor and privilege to celebrate another year. Below are some quick photo recaps of my birthday weekend. It was low key and perfect. And I guess, while I’m here I’ll just let you know that I – against my will but my clothes were startin’ to feel a lil’ too tight for my sexy – am doing a 12-week weight loss challenge which started yesterday.  What does that mean? Well, …

Bon Chonnnnnnnnn

Ok, so first of all, Bon Chon is all of that (and a bag a chips). Yes, I used the old school sayin’ – but I gotta say, this experience was not all that and a bag of chips 😦 It was just three sliders And I did it to myself. I got sliders at Bon Chon. Whoooo does that?! Don’t do that. Ever. Everyone and their mama knows that you go there for the wings or tenders.  It’s just what you do. But nooooo, I had to try something different. Like, yeah let me try the sliders. Smh. Epic fail. And, don’t get me wrong, they were cool but I found myself looking [stalking] at the pile of wings at the table next to me because, like I said, that’s why you go. They put my lil sliders to shame.  So, yes, please, go to Bon Chon. With a group or dolo. But just get some soy garlic or spicy wings or drums or tenders. That’s it.  That is all.  Snapped some pics  per …

Toro Toro DC

This is a special post for BloomFoodieChronicles.  It’s my first #masterdate of 2017!! Annnddd it marks two years almost to date that I started this whole masterdate thing, thanks to my mom flaking on me and my amazing Bobby Van’s $50 for $100 Groupon. *queue the orchestra* First, for those new to my blog. I adopted the masterdate concept from this picture: Ok. So. Once or 3 times a week. I am in the DC streets. At happy hour. Back to Toro Toro. Toro Toro has been on my list for a few months now. I heard about the truffle fries. I love some truffle fries. Though I masterdate year round, today bc it was disrespectfully cold, I was just going straight home.  I mean, I was. Anyway *side eye* I decided today was thee day I stopped in and experienced Toro Toro for myself. All I can say is: it’s.a.DC.must. Instant fav. All dat. Yes. Yasssss. #thatpart Happy hour. From 4Pm- 8PM. Yes, 8 PM! 🙂 Friendly bartenders. Good menu overall. Good drink options. …

2017 Winter Restaurant Week!

Listen: When Restaurant Week comes to DC, you go. Having participated in DC Restaurant Week for the last seven years now, I’ve developed a strategy: I prefer restaurants that allow you to pick from the full menu for the most part, and I go for the unique restaurants that give you a, well, unique, cool experience. This year my two choices came down to Acadiana or NOPA. Strictly due to availability, NOPA won. And I have to say: it.was.delicious. *queue the orchestra music* Ambiance was amazing. Staff was great. Vibe was chill but nice. What I ordered: Grilled Spanish Octopus Bistro Filet Steak “Frites” Chocolate Cheesecake Wine (not pictured) was Yorkville 2014 Malbec Per usual, I was “that” friend snappin’ pictures at the table. Until next time, eat good food 🙂 #bloomfoodischronicles
