Toki Underground

So I’ll keep it all the way real with  you guys at this point. I invite myself to stuff. And I kinda won’t feel bad unless you of course tell me, no.  Like if you said you want to go to WTF (Woodward Takeout Food) – I’d say “Oh I’m going *side eye emoji eyeballs* I mean, you guys know I’m all for going to places by myself I’m the Guru Masterdater BUT some things are more fun with company. And such was the case for my Toki Underground experience.   I was at happy hour with some coworkers last week when one of my coworkers mentioned that they planned to go to Toki. Queue my foodie impulsiveness, “Oh, I’m going!”…. ” I mean, if that’s cool and all…”  Not really sure if he wanted me to tag along BUT hey – I had already started makin’ plans LOL. Which ramen, Yelp reviews, chopstick practice, you name it.   After all, a girl’s gotta be prepared. Made a 5:15 PM reservation but we were a little late …

City Center + Ping Pong

{recappin’} Random. Random days that turn into memories are my favorite.  The weather was perfect. Mid 70s  in the District of Columbia. So you know what that meant: I took “the long way home…” which usually leads to a Masterdate of some sort. #bloomchronicles and #bloomfoodiechronicles I left work and just walked. No real destination in mind – well, no, I’m lying. I wanted to walk from my job to City Center (which is about a mile and half).  If I haven’t told you already, City Center is a fairly new spot in DC that has a mix of retail and food venues to please.   Juice Bars, Desserts, Hermes and Kate Spade – Ramen @ Momufuku or Crack Pie at Milk Bar.  This is going to become my go-to place Summer 2016. It’s so cute and nice.  And inviting. And so me:) Peep the picture above.    Cute, right? I plan to eat at every restaurant here. And that excites me terribly. After my 25 min walk. I started to get haaaannnngry, and noticed …

Birthdays are for Brunchin’.

Hey Bloomies! Just wanted to do a quick post on how I spent my birthday this past weekend! First of all, I still can’t believe I’m 32! As the old folks say, I’m “officially off the calendar.” Yikes!   I gotta say though, I feel really good. I’ve always prayed to get older and wiser – and I finally feel like that is my reality. Anywho, I had a few people over at my house for my birthday. Played some games and talked it up.  And because my birthday actually fell on Sunday Funday, brunch was certainly in order. I have a few brunch spots on my list this year, one being Ted’s Bulletin in Eastern Market (DC). And since Ted’s is closer to where I live, it was the obvious choice. A few initial observations: You simply can’t miss Ted’s Bulletin. It has a giant, illuminated B on the outside. When you walk in, there’s a bar like area with an old school but modern twist. I’m guessing it can also be for take out orders or …
